We are seeking a Patient Responsibility Coordinator to join a fast-paced, mission-driven healthcare services team. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in customer-facing healthcare environments, enjoy educating patients and providers, and have a strong understanding of medical insurance, benefits, and reimbursement processes.

This is not a collections role-you'll serve as a trusted resource, helping patients and providers understand coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and available financial options.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary contact for patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers
  • Explain insurance coverage, patient responsibility, and benefits details clearly and accurately
  • Provide financial guidance and support options aligned with company policies
  • Manage high-volume communication across phone, email, SMS, and chat channels
  • Analyze and interpret insurance data, eligibility, and benefit structures
  • Maintain detailed and compliant documentation in CRM systems (Salesforce)
  • Track and report on KPIs, performance metrics, and customer experience data
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PHI, and healthcare regulatory standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with revenue cycle, funding, and operations teams
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and workflow optimization

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in:
    • Healthcare customer service
    • Patient support / patient access
    • Insurance verification / benefits coordination
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Medical insurance plans (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid)
    • Benefits administration and reimbursement processes
    • Patient responsibility / out-of-pocket calculations
  • Experience with Durable Medical Equipment (DME), home health, or medical funding strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bilingual Spanish/English highly desired
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to multitask in a high-volume, data-driven environment

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (CST)
  • Onsite during training/contract period
  • Transition to hybrid work model after contract:
    • 3 days remote / 2 days onsite
